Cast Your Burden On The Lord

By: Bryan Wheeler Scripture: Psalm 55:22
This Psalm was written by David. Charles Spurgeon writes, ‘Altogether (this Psalm 55) seems to us to relate to that mournful era when David was betrayed by his trusted counsellor. The spiritual eye ever and anon sees the Son of David and Judas, and the chief priests appearing and disappearing upon the glowing canvas of th(is) Psalm.’ – Treasury of David I believe that this psalm gives us a kind of a spiritual window into the human emotions of our Lord Jesus on the night He was betrayed by Judas… On that sad and grievous night in the Garden of Gethsemane, Matthew’s gospel tells us… (Mt 26:37-38) “(Jesus) took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then (Jesus) said to (these men), My soul is exceedingly sorrowful even to death…”
