Chapter 8 – Christ Our Mediator
In our study of ‘the things most surely believed among us,’ as contained in our Bibles and explicitly spelled out in our Confession of Faith, we have been considering the 8th Chapter which sets forth the doctrine of Jesus Christ as the only Mediator between God and man. A mediator is a middle person who brings two opposing parties together by resolving their differences… This morning, we will be looking at paragraphs 6-8.
“Our Lord has accomplished something in history — in his life, death, resurrection, and ascension — that qualifies him to be the judge and the justifier of the ungodly. Jesus is both the Lord of the Covenant who commands and the Servant of the Covenant who fulfills all righteousness and wins for us forgiveness, the new birth, resurrection, and the renewal of the whole creation.” – Michael Horton, The Gospel Commission
