Those of us who are Christians are—are Christians because (v.20) we have ‘learned Christ’… we ‘have heard Him and have been taught by Him…’ Our heads have been instructed and our hearts have been changed… and the proof of all of this—is that we’re DIFFERENT – We are no longer like the rest of the world, so we shouldn’t live like them… Paraphrase of verse 29 … ‘Do not let filthy, hateful, mean or blasphemous words come out of your mouth. But rather, set a guard over your lips and speak only those things that are good, gracious, and helpful.’
