Debtors of Grace

By: Bryan Wheeler Scripture: Romans 1:13-15 Series: An Exposition of Romans
As “an apostle” and “a bondservant of Jesus Christ,” Paul was personally and morally obligated to preach the gospel to all men everywhere… Ø To the GREEKS – the civilized, cultured people of the Roman Empire… Ø The BARBARIANS – all those ‘other people’ considered by the Greeks as being uncivilized, inferior, and uncultured foreigners… Ø To the WISE and UNWISE – Paul felt himself to be a debtor to those who were educated and sophisticated and to those who were simple and uneducated… (1 Cor 9:16,19) “For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for NECESSITY IS LAID UPON ME; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel! … 19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more.” (Rom 13:8-9) “Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments… are all summed up in this saying… “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
