Despising God’s Goodness

There is no protection from God’s wrath… and there won’t be any escape from God’s judgment for people who practice sin… If sin is what you do for a living—YOU are the person Paul writes about in (v.4) – who is ‘despising the riches of God’s goodness…’ What does it mean to despise the riches of God’s goodness? – {καταφρονω kataphroneo} (lit.) – means to think down or against… Paul is saying, ‘Do you think little… or… think nothing of the riches of God’s goodness, His forbearance… and longsuffering? – – – ‘Will you keep on treating God’s overflowing kindness with contempt? … Are you going to keep on depreciating God’s great blessings? … Disregarding God’s multiplied mercies?

Bryan Wheeler Pastor Bryan Wheeler was converted to Christ in 1973. For most of the 20 years that he served in the U.S. Air Force he was actively involved in church-based preaching and teaching ministries in the U.S. and overseas. Pastor Wheeler was ordained into the gospel ministry in 1987 and was called into full time ministry in 1989. He is the pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Verona, VA. He and his wife Maureen were married in 1968 and the Lord has given them 6 children and 4 grandchildren.
