God’s law is like a moral mirror that shows us the truth of who and what we are. The law reflects the reality of our moral ugliness back to us. So, ‘that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.’ GUILTY – not only because of what we’ve done, but because of what we have not done. GUILTY – not only because of our sinful actions, but because of our sinful words, thoughts, attitudes, and desires. GUILTY – not before a fallible, human judge, but before the Lord God—the infallible Judge who knows the truth about us. Guilty people always shut their mouths – Luke 18:9-14
