Gospel Righteousness

By: Bryan Wheeler Scripture: Romans 3:21-26 Series: An Exposition of Romans
In 3:21-26 … Paul returns to the gospel theme of the righteousness of God from back in 1:17. In his commentary on this passage, Leon Morris writes, this ‘is possibly the most important paragraph ever written…’ In Verse 21 … the apostle Paul abruptly changes his focus from the unrighteousness of sinful people—to the righteousness of a holy God. God will never allow anything or anyone to compromise the integrity of His holy character… The gospel message is first and foremost a message about God—who is righteousness personified… The whole idea of salvation—fixing morally and spiritually broken people wasn’t just an afterthought with God. This was God’s plan from the very beginning—a plan which has just now (in these last days) been revealed to all mankind—in the GOSPEL.
