Text: 1 Timothy 2:1-6
There is nothing so satisfying, so comforting, so animating to the soul—than a Spirit-wrought display of the truth of Jesus Christ… There are at least three important aspects involved in Christ’s role as the only mediator between God and men:
1st … Jesus Christ Is The Supreme Problem-Solver (or peacemaker)
a) On the one hand—God is righteous, good, and unchangeable in His being, and inflexible in His standards…
b) On the other hand—we are stubborn, proud, and persistent in a course of moral rebellion and ungodliness. – Is there any question that we need a Mediator?
2nd … Jesus Christ Is Uniquely Qualified To Be Our Mediator – only Jesus Christ fully and perfectly identifies with both God and man—because, He is both divine and human… Jesus Christ—in His unique Person as both God and Man, is equal in dignity with God—and perfect in sympathy with man (Heb 1:1-9; 2:10-18; 4:15).
3rd … Jesus Christ Reconciles Us To God – He settles every dispute and controversy… resolves every problem and difficulty—by putting away all our sins and changing our hearts – Heb 10:16-17. God is not just appeased—but He’s pleased with all who believe on Christ…
Bryan Wheeler Pastor Bryan Wheeler was converted to Christ in 1973. For most of the 20 years that he served in the U.S. Air Force he was actively involved in church-based preaching and teaching ministries in the U.S. and overseas. Pastor Wheeler was ordained into the gospel ministry in 1987 and was called into full time ministry in 1989. He is the pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Verona, VA. He and his wife Maureen were married in 1968 and the Lord has given them 6 children and 4 grandchildren.
