A Church Covenant is a solemn and binding agreement in which we freely promise to conduct our lives in a way that glorifies God and promotes the good of His church.
Why do we need a church covenant?
BIBLICAL REASONS:
#1 – God is a Covenant-making/keeping God – God’s method of relating to His people has always been on the basis of covenant.
#2 – The Scriptures demand our wholehearted commitment – to our God and Savior—and to one another as God’s people – Mt 28:18-20… Romans 12:1-16… Hebrews 10:14-25.
#3 – Those of us who are believers… are God’s New Covenant People – His elect… His church… His own special people – Exodus 19:5-6; 1 Peter 2:7-16…
Bryan Wheeler Pastor Bryan Wheeler was converted to Christ in 1973. For most of the 20 years that he served in the U.S. Air Force he was actively involved in church-based preaching and teaching ministries in the U.S. and overseas. Pastor Wheeler was ordained into the gospel ministry in 1987 and was called into full time ministry in 1989. He is the pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Verona, VA. He and his wife Maureen were married in 1968 and the Lord has given them 6 children and 4 grandchildren.
