Implied in this blessing of ‘peace with God’ is a negative reality… Before any of us ever believed in Jesus Christ—we were at war with God, and God was at war with us. Paul has been dealing with this WAR PROBLEM since the very beginning of this letter (1:18-24)… The PEACE spoken of in Romans 5:1 is an objective peace with God… Nothing we do can change the objective, eternal reality that every believer has peace with God, because of the sufferings and death of Christ.
