Special Revelation (2 Pet 1:16-21; Heb 1:1-2) – is God revealing Himself in ways other than in creation and conscience – ‘…those former ways of God’s revealing His will unto His people being now ceased.’ Special Written Revelation – was necessary to: (1) Preserve the Truth – Deut 31:9-13,19-21; Lk 1:1-4 (2) Propagate the Truth – Rom 1:13-15; 1 Tim 3:14-15). (3) Bless and Protect His Church – ‘…for the sure establishment and comfort of the church against the corruption of the flesh, and the malice of Satan, and of the world…’ – Is 8:20; 2 Tim 3:13-17; 1 Jn 4:1-6.
