The theme of this last part of chapter one (beginning in v.19), is the POWER OF GOD… Why do you and I need to know the ‘exceeding greatness’ of God’s power? – because: 1st – God’s power is focused on those of us who believe – think about it for a minute… God’s great power and might is concentrated and directed—not just toward us—but for us… and in us… (Gk preposition – εἰς eis) 2nd – Left to ourselves, you and I are spiritual weaklings! – if it were not for God’s grace and God’s Spirit—we could never do anything that pleases God… Left to ourselves we are faithless, faulty, foolish, fickle, unstable, vulnerable, and helpless.
